CIVIL INFRASTRUCTURE
Residential communities in rural communities often lack proper insulation (often requiring residents to resorting to unsafe indoor heating methods which release toxic gaseous compounds), and/or proper roofing to protect residents from inclement weather year-round. Some communities have sustained major structural damages to residential and other infrastructure (e.g., hospitals, schools, etc.) due to the 1988 earthquake in Spitak, Armenia or as a result of shelling and gunfire from frequent Azerbaijani attacks along the border. See how our project team works to help rebuild, renovate, reconstruct, and strengthen these communities.
WATER MANAGEMENT
While certain mountainous regions of Armenia and Artsakh may have sufficient natural water resources to supply water for potable and irrigation end use, poor water quality resulting from various sources of contamination, corroding distribution pipelines, and/or improper treatment systems results in water-borne diseases and other health risks. On the other hand, arid regions and those with variable climates results in unstable and unreliable water supply. Lastly, the lack of process safety technology and emergency protocols may result in unanticipated water supply shortages or outages and possible foreign attacks on water supplies. See how our project team aims to secure a reliable supply of clean water in these regions.
STEM EDUCATION & CAREER DEVELOPMENT
STEM education and career opportunities are often centralized in major city centers and are less accessible to youth in remote communities. Science, technology, and mathematics (collectively referred to as STEM) are the cornerstone for innovation, development, and progress. Through our multidimensional educational programs in underserved communities, from seminars to summertime day camps to semester-long courses, we extend access to and expand the pool of talented youth that are presented with new opportunities to pursue a future in STEM. And with our education to industry pipeline, where we present and match promising students to local internship opportunities, we further encourage them to pursue a future in STEM specifically within Armenia and Artsakh, thus mitigating the "brain drain", the emigration of talented and brilliant Armenians from their indigenous lands in pursuit of opportunity elsewhere.
