ABOUT US
Engineer Armenia is a project-based, service-oriented not-for-profit organization dedicated to implementing engineering and homeland development projects in the Republics of Armenia and Artsakh. Our international, interdisciplinary team of volunteers includes experts, young industry professionals, and students alike committed to utilizing their unique skills, technical knowledge, and expertise to contribute to development, innovation, and sustainability in rural, underserved communities.
Our story dates back to July 2015 when I volunteered as a Youth Corps fellow in the summer and had the chance to connect with the youth and residents of Armenia and Artsakh. During that time, I served as one of twelve counselors leading summer camps for the youth of Stepanakert, Gyumri, and Tavshut. I was welcomed into the homes of our host families. I was building a sense of camaraderie with my campers, host families, the local shop owners. I was, for the first time, feeling less like a tourist in my own homeland. While I have always felt the homeland pull on my heartstrings, it was during this summer that I truly felt at home.
With that, I also felt a sense of ownership of this piece of land I call home, the burden of accountability for its fate, and the weight of responsibility to directly contribute to its safety, restoration, and progress.
This was the start of Engineer Armenia.
